🗂️ Creating a Nest on Pterodactyl
Nests are game categories in Pterodactyl. Each Nest groups together a set of Eggs (server templates), for example:
- Minecraft Nest → Eggs: Paper, Spigot, Bungeecord
- Discord Bots Nest → Eggs: Node.js, Python
- Source Engine Nest → Eggs: CS:GO, Garry’s Mod
1. Access the Nests section
- Log in to your admin panel (
https://votre_panel.fr/admin). - In the side menu, click Nests.
- Click Create New to add a new Nest.
2. Fill in the information
Name
- Name of the Nest (example:
Minecraft,Discord Bots,Source Engine).
Description
- Short description of the category.
- Examples:
- “Nest containing all Minecraft servers.”
- "Category for Discord bots."
Choose a clear name and description to make it easier for your users to manage and understand.
3. Add Eggs to the Nest
Once the Nest has been created, you can add Eggs to it (each Egg corresponds to a specific type of server).
- Return to the Nests section.
- Click on the Nest you just created.
- Click on Create New Egg.
- Fill in the necessary information (name, description, Docker image, variables, etc.).
Eggs can be imported/exported in JSON format.
This allows you to share your configurations or install Eggs created by the community.
4. Example of organization
-
Nest: Minecraft
- Egg: Paper (optimized survival)
- Egg: Spigot
- Egg: Bungeecord (proxy)
-
Nest: Discord Bots
- Egg: Node.js bot
- Egg: Python bot
-
Nest: Source Engine
- Egg: CS:GO
- Egg: Garry’s Mod
5. Best practices
- Only install Eggs from trusted sources.
- Always check the included Docker images and scripts to avoid any security risks.
If you manage a multi-game offering, organize your Nests by game type (Minecraft, Bots, Others) to simplify the user experience.
