How to get a custom IP for your Minecraft Java server (SRV)

Tired of giving your friends a complicated IP with a port like 123.45.67.89:25565? Good news: you can use a simple, professional custom address, such as:

play.yourserver.fr

By configuring an SRV record in your domain, your players will be able to join without entering an IP address or port.

1) Order a domain name

First and foremost, you need a domain name.

2) Create an A record

Once you have the domain, log in to your DNS manager and create an A record.

Type: A
Name: play.yourserver.fr
Value: 123.45.67.89 (your host's IPV4)

3) Create an SRV record

Next, you need to create an SRV record.
This type of record allows you to automatically redirect your players to the IP and port of your Minecraft server.

Example: server on the default port 25565

Service: _minecraft
Protocol: _tcp
Name: play
Priority: 0
Weight: 5
Port: 25565 (Your server's port)
Target: play.yourserver.fr

Your players will simply type:

play.yourserver.fr
