Palworld crossplay: PC, PS5, Xbox - complete 2026 guide

Palworld crossplay on PC, PS5 and Xbox explained: invite code vs community server browser, what changes with 1.0, and how to set up a cross-platform server.

TL;DR
  • Crossplay active between PC Steam, PC Game Pass/Microsoft Store, Xbox Series X/S and Mac since the v0.5.0 update on March 19, 2025
  • PS5 joined the party with version 1.0, released on July 10, 2026 - not before
  • Xbox One never got Palworld, so no crossplay is possible on that console
  • Two multiplayer methods: the invite code (4 players max, including on PS5) and the community server browser (up to 32 players)
  • Since 1.0, PS5 finally gets access to dedicated community servers through the built-in browser - a genuine first
  • Only PC Steam can join a server by typing a direct IP (IP:8211); PS5 and Xbox have to go through the server browser

Yes, Palworld crossplay is in full swing in 2026, across PC, Xbox and PS5. But there's one thing almost nobody explains properly: there are two completely different ways to play together, and they're not equal depending on your platform.

We break it all down platform by platform, with a clear table and what it means if you're setting up a community server.

How Palworld crossplay works

Palworld crossplay has been around since update v0.5.0, launched on March 19, 2025 by Pocketpair. Back then, it already linked PC (Steam), PC Game Pass, Xbox Series X/S and Mac in the same player pool, through the EOS (Epic Online Services) build.

PS5, on the other hand, stayed on the sidelines for over a year. It only joined the party with the release of version 1.0 on July 10, 2026, the date Palworld officially left early access.

In practice, today a player on Xbox Series X can be on the same map as a friend on PS5 or Steam, at the same time, in the same world. But the how depends heavily on the platform, and that's where most players get it wrong.

The 2 connection methods explained clearly

There isn't just one way to play crossplay on Palworld. There are two, and they don't look alike at all.

Method 1: the invite code (private worlds)

This is the peer-to-peer method, designed for playing with friends without setting up a server.

  • The host launches their game solo and enables multiplayer in the world options
  • They open the Options menu, click the "eye" icon and get a 4-digit code
  • Other players select "Join a multiplayer game (invite code)" from the main menu and enter the code
  • Strict limit: 4 players, host included (so the host plus 3 friends)
  • It works on PS5 too - it's even the only truly 100% reliable option on that console
  • ⚠️ The code changes with every new session: you need to share it again each time
  • ⚠️ If the host leaves, the game stops for everyone

Method 2: the community server browser

This is the method for dedicated servers, the ones that run 24/7 without depending on a host player.

  • From the main menu, go to "Join a multiplayer game" then choose the community servers tab
  • Search for the server by its exact name, select it, and join
  • Up to 32 players at once, depending on the server's configuration
  • PC Steam has one extra option: "Join via IP", typing IP:8211 directly
  • Xbox can't enter a direct IP: it has to go through the server browser
  • PS5 can't type an IP either: same constraint, the server browser is mandatory

In short: the invite code is for a session between friends, capped at 4. The community server browser is for a real permanent server, up to 32 players, across all platforms.

Crossplay compatibility by platform

PlatformCrossplay activeSinceInvite code (4 players)Dedicated server (32 players)
PC (Steam)✅ Yesv0.5.0 (2025-03-19)✅ Yes✅ Yes - list or direct IP
PC (Game Pass / Microsoft Store)✅ Yesv0.5.0 (2025-03-19)✅ Yes✅ Yes - list only
Xbox Series X/S✅ Yesv0.5.0 (2025-03-19)✅ Yes✅ Yes - list only, no IP

PS5✅ Yesv1.0 (2026-07-10)✅ Yes, limited to 4✅ Yes since 1.0 - list only, no IP
Mac✅ Yesv0.5.0, via EOS build✅ Yes✅ Yes

The detail that changes everything: only PC Steam can join a server by typing an IP address manually. Xbox and PS5 have to search for the server in the community list, by name.

What changed with version 1.0

Before July 10, 2026, PS5 was the odd one out. It could play crossplay with PC and Xbox, but only via invite code, capped at 4 players. There was no way to access a dedicated community server, even if that server already accepted PC and Xbox without any issues.

With the release of version 1.0 on July 10, 2026, Pocketpair fixed that: PS5 finally gets access to dedicated community servers, through the built-in server browser. That's the real good news of this update on the multiplayer side.

What hasn't changed:

  • ⚠️ PS5 still can't enter a direct IP - it has to go through the server name search
  • ⚠️ The invite code is still capped at 4 players, on PS5 just like every other platform
  • ⚠️ No cross-progression: your character stays tied to the platform it was created on, whether that's Steam, Xbox or PS5

Implications for a hosted multiplayer server

Battle against a Pal in Palworld

If you're setting up or renting a Palworld community server, here's concretely what it means for a mixed PC/Xbox/PS5 group:

  • Crossplay works right from setup, with no special network configuration, as long as the server uses the EOS build
  • Your PC Steam players can join directly by typing the server's IP (IP:8211) - the fastest way
  • Your Xbox and PS5 players have to search for your server by its exact name in the community browser - give them that name ahead of time, not just the IP
  • Up to 32 players can coexist, across all platforms, versus 4 in invite code mode
  • Each player keeps their own character tied to their platform, even on a shared server - that's normal, not a hosting bug

At Lordhosting, on a Palworld server, crossplay is enabled by default on every plan. Your PC players connect via IP, your Xbox and PS5 players join through the community server browser, with no extra steps needed on the panel side.
